Double eyelid isn't just a caucasian trait.Indian Thai and Middle east also have them.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.Plastic surgery or no plastic surgery is the girls's choice to make.Everybody wants to look beautiful.If they are not born w/ it and they are not happy with their looks,I don't see why they can't go under the knife.It's their decision to make.
I'm a thai mix,Thai dad Chinese mom and I have to admit that high nose bridge isn't one of our Asian traits.Even though I'm a mix,I only get fair skin(from my mother's side) and double eyelid.No high nose and But I disagree w/ the 'Chinese do plastic surgery to look like caucasian' statement.Caucasians are so self-obsessed.Personally I like fairer skin cos I look better w/ fair skin(not bcos i wanna look like caucasian).I'm not the sporty type so tan doesn't suit me.It's human nature to like things we don't have.Caucasians likes to tan their skin wheraes Asians likes to whiten their skin.

Is it a good thing for someone to think they are prettier when they look like a group that has an ethnic trait they don’t? Even if it isn’t about looking like White people, you think it’s better that your family wants to look like you? Even if they aren’t trying to look like a White person they do not feel pride in their ethnic traits and ethnicity and that’s sad. If there was no cosmetic surgery they would just have to live like that, and honestly I don’t think that kind of insecurity goes away even if you fix the outward “problem”. I know becuase I have been there.

Japan was the first country that did a lot of plastic surgery. All their celebrities had plastic surgery. Many Japanese had plastic surgery, but of course there are a few that is naturally pretty. There are japanese that have ainu blood and non japanese blood in them that make them very pretty (mixed look).

Then we now have South Korea that got totally into plastic surgery. OVer 95% of their celebrities had plastic surgery. And there is also a high number that purchased a completely new face. (completely difficult than their original face). Also south korea has over 75% Korean women 35 and under had plastic surgery. In South korea parents purchase vouchers for their daughters birthday or high school graduation present. So it is too common that any gals 18 and over already had plastic surgery in South Korea. The biggest hint is the korean population have the most single eyelid orientals among any asian groups. Nowadays you see mostly double eyelids korean women 18 and older. Double eyelids can be done at any age according to korean plastic surgeons. The affluent or famous celebrities kids get plastic surgery around preschool age from what I read. They do it before they start preschool. This was practiced more than 70 years ago in S. Korea.
Japan practiced plastic surgery only 10 years before south korea.

If you want to talk about who is very plastic go to Japan and South Korea. It is very common and acceptable thing to do. In south korea plastic surgery is cheap if you are an ethnic korean that is a korean national.

Also in Vietnam, thailand, and filipines, they do many nose job cuz these people naturally have very flat wide noses.

I am not dumpy, badly formed in body, large-pored, or pink. Nor do I live in a trailer. I am extremely fair olive toned. Fact: the average nose ( kind of smallish, with a medium height bridge) is a feature EVERY RACE POSSESSES. It's the base model. Not of 'Caucasians' but of everyone which is exactly why everyone finds it attractive. Black, White, Yellow, Brown, Red - it in the genes of them all.

As an Asian girl with naturally big eyes and natural double eye-lids (which approximately 1/3 of Chinese people naturally have), I get a lot of insulting comments from ignorant white folks, even when my lids are so layered in a way that it's impossible to get them in a surgery. Yet these white folks get nose jobs, get fat lips, iron flat their hair, dye their hair blonde and go tanning. Then they point at black people (who are naturally tanned and have fat lips) and accuse them of getting weaves or try to straighten their hairs.

2. Fair skin is a standard for beauty in Asia for more than TWO THOUSAND YEARS. And by fair, they strive for clear and glowy skin that look like white jade. Not the huge-pored, zits-filled, wrinkled, hairy and pinkish "Caucasian" skin.

So i read some of the comments above.....i have only recently been aware of this Dawn Yang girl and have read her blog a couple times..i alwasy enjoy a good read...controversial/informative/entrertaining etc....

Anyway, i am a firm believer in to each his/her own....lets just live and let live ppl and try to put good vibes out into society....i mean if you havent got anything nice to say abt someone, just can it la....Ms yang, for whatever reason, wanted to change her appearance...adn we all do that to a certain extent in our everyday lives....from the little insignificatn efforts to try to make ourselves look presentable to some additional more time consuming efforts to others which can be considered extreme...but we all do it...there are of course exceptions who are either ultra confident or just plain lazy....and this does not necessarily translate to their level of attractiveness...i know ppl who look flawless and still think they need to make a considerable effort to enhance their looks before leaving their homes everyday. it is all up to the individual....
